HGSS NEWSLETTER - February 2019

Message from Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to this addition of our newsletter as we are now half way through the academic year, and hopefully over the snow. The terms fly by and are full of events. There is a Parent Partnership meeting coming up on Tuesday 26 February 2019, between 6.30 to 7.30pm where we intend to present draft plans for the expansion of the school from an intake of 150 students in year 7 to 210 students this September 2019. To support this expansion, Buckinghamshire County Council would build additional facilities on the school site including: a sports hall, seated dining facility, covered tennis courts, a new Maths/English block and landscaped seating areas outside.

Numerous trips, fixtures and cultural visits have taken place over the last term, widening students' experiences and increasing their cultural capital. There have been a number of Duke of Edinburgh trips from Bronze to Gold, County Cup football fixtures, a ski trip to Folgaria in Italy, Parents’ evenings and a whole range of weekly interventions run.

We are well into Sixth Form Interview season and our congratulations go to the Sixth Form team and teachers who have supported our students in achieving an exceptional set of results in August 2018, where based on value added progress, Holmer Green Senior School Sixth Form tops Buckinghamshire’s league table.  See the following link Buckinghamshire 6th Form School Comparison

I know you will enjoy reading some of the articles that pique your interest.

Kindest regards

Ed Hillyard
