HGSS have a successful board of Governors who are experienced and committed. Their names and the offices they hold are available in the Governor Profiles page.
Governors at Holmer Green Senior serve a four year term of office and play an important part in the strategic management of the school.
The Governing Body is vital to our success:
- Governors make important decisions about school life
- Governors’ decisions directly affect the education and well-being of children
- Governors can really make a difference in improving standards throughout the school
They play an important part in improving our children’s education and supporting the staff here at the school. Caring about the school and its community is a prerequisite to joining the governing body, and we are always looking to harness any skills and knowledge governors may have to benefit the strategic operation of the school and ultimately the education of our children.
Governors act as a team and, as such, the amount of time that each of them gives to the role will vary. We have five Governing Body meetings over three terms and all Governors serve on one or more of the sub committees.
More information about school governorship can be found on the Bucks County Council Governors' section.
The Academy Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee which has been registered at Companies House. The Trust has entered into a legal agreement, called the Funding Agreement, with the Secretary of State, relating to the running of the Academy. The Members are the individuals who have established the Trust. The Academy Governors (also known as Directors) will continue to be elected by the Full Governing Body as they are at present. It is in order for Members to also be Governors. The Articles of Association detail the constitution and requirements of membership of the Trust and Board of Governors.
Governors remain accountable for the strategic management of the school as before, with key responsibilities of:
- Ensuring the quality of educational provision
- Challenging and monitoring the performance of the Academy
- Managing the Academy Trust’s finances and property
- Employing staff
- Complying with charity and company law
- Managing and complying with obligations in the Funding Agreement.
We have retained the school name and logo and there is no change to the way the school operates on a day to day basis. As the school is registered as a company, this is now reflected on our letterhead.
