Listening, reading and writing

Assessment: written exam 2 hours 30 minutes, 50% of A Level, 100 marks

a) Listening and responding to spoken passages from a range of contexts and sources covering different registers.  All questions in French, to be answered with non-verbal responses or in French (30 marks)

b) Reading and responding to a variety of texts written for different purposes, drawn from a range of authentic sources.  All questions in French, to be answered with non-verbal responses or in French (50 marks)

c) Translation into English; a passage of minimum 100 words (10 marks)

d) Translation into French; a passage of minimum 100 words (10 marks)

 

Writing

           a) One text and one film, or two texts from a set list from the specification

           b) Grammar

Assessment: written exam 2 hours, 20% of A level, 80 marks

 

Speaking

a) Individual research project

b) One of four themes – as specified in Listening, reading and writing (1. above)

Assessment: oral exam, 21-23 minutes (including 5 mins preparation), 30% of A level, 60 marks
