Welcome from the Headteacher - Mr Ed Hillyard
I welcome you to the Holmer Green Senior School (HGSS) website. HGSS is an 11 – 18 academy situated in Holmer Green Village. We are a non-selective, comprehensive school in a selective county. We pride ourselves on excellence and the impact we have on shaping our student’s characters.
DfE performance tables placed us 13th nationally for KS5 progress in 2018 and our KS4 progress was “well above average”. Our current Ofsted grading, from 2016 is “good”. Students and parents who are considering HGSS, or teachers who are interested in working with us, should find our website informative and helpful in your decision making progress.
Our Sixth Form is a vibrant and high performing part of the school. Students who wish to join, and in particular our year 11 students, should look at the Sixth Form pages to see what courses we have on offer and our enrichment that makes us stand out.
A distinctive feature of HGSS is our partnership work with parents and students. Our staff work incredibly hard at helping to transform the lives of HGSS students and go out of their way to ensure that they know each student as an individual in a nurturing environment.
I hope clicking through our website you will get a tangible feel for our ‘work hard, be kind’ attitude. Details of our curriculum, pastoral support, significant enrichment experiences, newsletters, prospectus and current staff vacancies can all be found on our website. Prospective parents and students should visit our admissions pages for details of how to apply.
Our mission at HGSS is:
To develop confident, young people, irrespective of background, who strive to be the best they can academically, personally and as citizens, ensuring that they are well prepared for a fast-paced, changing world
We have a simple motto:
Work hard, be kind.
We have four values that underpin everything we do as a community school:
Our staff work incredibly hard at helping to transform the lives of HGSS students and go out of their way to ensure that they know each student as an individual in a nurturing environment.
