The Ryman National Enterprise Challenge

Success for Year 9, 10 and 12 students

On the 2 October HGSS Business students in Year 9, 10 and 12 participated in The Ryman National Enterprise Challenge. Students worked in teams of 4 to solve a problem set by the Football Association. What would be the best way to get more females involved in the national sport?

This was an exciting and innovative experience that was like watching an episode of The Apprentice. Teams had to create a unique idea/event, designing a logo, promotional products, posters, leaflets, writing a letter to gain sponsorship and perform a convincing advert. They then had to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges that were more intimidating than Alan Sugar!  Some amazing original ideas were pitched that went from playing football on a virtual reality platform to plastic globes on water. The competition was tough but finally it came down to a pitch where students had thought of more than a one-day event. The idea has to remain secretive at the moment as they will now be representing HGSS in the Finals to be held at Wembley in June where they will be pitching their idea to Theo Paphitis along with representatives of the FA and some of the England Woman’s national squad.

Watch this space to find out how they do but our congratulations go to: Project Manager Emily Reeves and her team that consists of Lia Gaster, Sharmela Thiru and Hamza Liaqat.
