Open Evening 2016
Our Busiest Open Evening Ever!!
More than 560 prospectus packs were handed out to visitors on the evening of 6th October!
"I just wanted to write and say how impressed I was this evening at your open event. Although there were clearly much higher numbers attending than anticipated your staff and pupils coped admirably" - Visitor
Parents and visitors were given guided tours of the school by staff and students. The main hall was also packed - twice, in two sessions - to hear a welcoming speech from our Headteacher, Mr Michael Jones.
Parents heard that Holmer Green Senior School continues to build on its reputation as one of the highest achieving non-selective schools in the country, with 42% of all grades A* - B - far above the national average. Life at Holmer Green Senior School also centres on three unique features:
Adaptable - Holmer Green Senior School invests in high quality teaching and staff ready themselves for changes well in advance, so that students can achieve results far ahead of their peers.
Relationships - We are a small school. It means we can give our students and parents more time and attention and push them to the top grades. Our pastoral care is also second to none.
High attainment - Results at GCSE are significantly higher than the National averages - particularly for the highest grades. Our Sixth Form results this summer were the best in the school's history. Every one of our Sixth Form students completing this year was able to access the university of his or her choice.
"I joined Holmer Green in Year 7 and it was the hardest and most important decision I had to make because I wasn't sure of what I wanted from a secondary school and there were so many to choose from. However, within the first week I knew I had come to the right school" - Sixth form student
Visitors around the school were also not only able to see some of our state-of-the-art facilities, such as our new Business Centre and our highly equipped Technology Centre, but were also able to get a sense of the atmosphere and ethos of the school.
"The students we met were extremely courteous, engaging and smartly dressed, and managing to remain enthusiastic and upbeat despite being so busy. There was a real sense of pride in their school. " - Visitor
