HGSS attendance policy has been amended. The main points are summarised below, but a full copy is found here and it is requested that all parents/carers familiarise themselves with it.
Attendance is hugely important in the success of every child at HGSS as there is a very strong link between attendance and academic achievement, see graph below. Attending is a very simple act and attendance of less than 97% is unusual.
Should a student be absent for any reason, it is required that the Attendance Officer is notified before 08:00hrs on each day of absence and a clear reason for the absence given. Contact should be made by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Medical Appointments, etc.
Wherever possible we encourage parents/carers to arrange medical appointments outside of school hours. However, if this is not possible, we require that we be notified 48hrs in advance by email, in order for us to make the necessary arrangements and advise the relevant teaching staff.
We are keen to encourage punctuality. If a student arrives after 8.55am, without communication from a parent/carer to the Attendance Officer, they will automatically be given a same day detention.
