Conduct and Behaviour
At Holmer Green Senior School, our core values of work hard, be kind, have passion guide everything we do. We hold high expectations of all students and use our behaviour systems to minimise disruption, ensure safety, and support young people to grow into responsible, resilient adults. We believe that clear boundaries are essential for growth and success, and we use a relational approach to behaviour, built on strong relationships, positive noticing, and the development of intrinsic motivation. Conduct across the school is strong, and our non-negotiables are simple and consistent. Students must:
- Be on time
- Demonstrate a positive attitude to learning
- Wear the correct uniform
- Bring the right equipment
- Follow instructions first time, and
- Show respect to every member of the community
A strong partnership with parents underpins our approach, ensuring consistency and shared expectations for all students.
Attendance:
Absence affects students' chances of gaining good grades at GCSE. If a student has more than 20 days absence a year, they will have reduced their chances of success in exams by 75%. Success in exams supports success in life. National Government statistics indicate that any student with 95% attendance or less will drop a full grade in examinations.
In the case of absence/medical appointments, parents need to telephone the Attendance Office direct on 01494 719901 or email the school on attendance@holmer.org.uk
