Holmer Green Senior School

Curriculum and Teaching

We are passionate about teaching and learning at Holmer Green Senior School.  Our aim is to ensure that students experience high-quality education that is ambitious, inclusive, and meets the principles of a broad and balanced curriculum.

We want students to become independent, reflective learners who study a rich curriculum and develop deep disciplinary knowledge. We encourage them to think, act, and speak as subject specialists in all areas, preparing them to thrive in life beyond HGSS.

Our teachers maintain high expectations for every student and empower them to become the best version of themselves.  Many of our teachers contribute to the wider educational community through school-to-school support and examining. We are an outward-facing school, relentless in our pursuit of continuous improvement.

Students are assessed both formally and informally, and this information is used to inform teaching, curriculum and ensure progress.  Parents receive regular updates about their child’s progress to ensure a partnership approach to learning.

If you would like to discuss any aspects of teaching, learning, curriculum, and assessment at HGSS, please contact Mr A. Wooller, Deputy Headteacher, at woollera@holmer.org.uk.
