The role of the HGSS Sports Committee will be to:-
- Promote sport and a healthy lifestyle amongst students and staff
- Support elite athletes within the school (both in school sport and sport outside of school)
- Support school sporting teams
- Offer more sporting opportunities for our students
- Provide a community link with feeder primary schools
- Recognise sporting achievements / success at school
- Help organise the annual Sports Dinner held to celebrate sporting achievements throughout the year, and the Gym and Dance Show
How this will be achieved:-
- Sports Newsletter to be published and distributed each month
- Fund-raising drives to raise money to sponsor individuals / teams
- Offer a variety of lunchtime competitions
- Utilise Sports Committee members to promote sport in Year assemblies
- Establish a reward system for sporting achievements within the school
- Network with local primary schools and offer coaching opportunities and Fun Days
- Approach local secondary schools to establish Inter-School Competitions
- Continue with our Breakfast Club
