PSYCHOLOGY AS and A2
Aims of the Course:
Psychology is the study of the human mind. Students will explore theories that seek to explain human behaviour and evaluate research that has been carried out by psychologists to support their assumptions.
We follow the AQA specification A syllabus for both AS and A2. In year 12, students take two modules and study the following topics:
- Cognitive psychology: Human memory
- Development psychology: Attachment in development
- Research methods
- Biology psychology: Stress
- Social psychology: Social influence
- Individual differences: Psychology (Abnormality)
In year 13, students follow a further two modules:
- Unit 3: Three topics chosen: from a possible eight e.g.: Relationships, psychology in action and research methods
- Assessment is based entirely in examination performance.
