It happens totally out of the blue …
It takes you completely by surprise …
Some people think they can predict when it will happen …
It can happen anywhere …
It can totally devastate the area …
The clues above should lead you to two possible natural events
Do you know the answers?
Where could you find out the answers easily?
Learning geography will give you the knowledge, skills and understanding to find out the answers to the above mystery and much more besides. So what can you expect when you arrive? Geography lessons in Years 7, 8 and 9 follow what is called a 'spiral' curriculum. The topics, issues and processes you study in one year are all linked together!
Key Stage 3
In Year 7
'Trying To Be Rich'
The topics you delve into in Year 7 help you understand the difference between rich and poor. We will study the difference between the two, as well as the important reasons why some areas are richer than others. Our starting point is the interesting geographical topic of football!
In Year 8
'Globe + People = ?'
Ten thousand years ago, there was little if no human life on the planet we call Earth. All of a sudden the planet was teeming with humans, all doing different things, using different resources and being affected by things like earthquakes and volcanoes. This year we will study how the planet affects human life and how human life affects the planet.
In Year 9
'People, Places and Culture'
This year's study will equip you with knowledge of people and the places they live in. Different cultures, foods, sports and music will be studied in a variety of places, giving you a first hand view of what life is like around the World.
Geography teaches you about the world you live in - the world you can see. It shares the secrets of the planet and delivers the cold hard facts about how we treat and take care of our planet. It will make you think; it will make you want to find out more - are you ready for the challenge?
