Throughout the school, students are taught both single and mixed sex groups for sporting activities.
All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 receive four lessons of PE each fortnight. During these years the emphasis is placed on introducing the basic skills and their application to game situations and tactics in a variety of the following activities:

Year 10 and 11 students receive three lessons of PE a fortnight and during these years we develop the above activities into the larger or full game situations.
GCSE PE and GCSE Dance is on offer for students in Year 10 and 11. AS/A2 level PE and Community Sports Leaders Award is on offer for Years 12 and 13.
The department lays great emphasis upon discipline and appearance. All students are expected to wear PE kit and shower when appropriate. Self-discipline is encouraged in order that all may participate safely and with enjoyment.
All students are encouraged to take part in extracurricular clubs/teams and competitions during lunch hours and after school, with more talented students being fed onto local clubs, district, regional and national standards of competition. We also have a Sports Committee which promotes sports.
