Exam Success 2010!
GCSE Results
Headteacher, Michael Jones is delighted with the school’s best ever GCSE results. Students achieved 59% 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths with a record of 78% of students attaining 5 or more A*-C grades overall. “We are all delighted with the significant rise in attainment this year with both Maths and English results above 70%. Our results continue to exceed the national averages across the country in all subject areas and this is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our students and the high quality and dedication of the staff at Holmer Green.”
The school’s top performers also set new school records. “46% of our students achieved 5 or more GCSEs with grades A*-B” added headteacher, Michael Jones, “It is a testimony to our outstanding team of staff who raise the aspirations and expectations of so many of our students.”
Top performers include Amy McDermott gaining 3 A*s, 4 As and 3 Bs; Kayley Oseman gaining 2 A*s, 5 A grades and 4 Bs; Francesca Allen gaining 1 A*, 6 As and 4 Bs; Calum Morris gaining 7 As and 4 Bs; Annalise Mason gaining 6 As, 4 Bs and 1 C; Jessie Leach gaining 6 As and 4 Bs and Eleanor Beirne gaining 1 A*, 4 As, 4 Bs and 1 C.
A Level Results
Holmer Green Senior School has continued its success at Key Stage 5 with the largest cohort in the school’s history sitting A2 and BTEC examinations. Five students achieved the new A* qualification in three subject areas: English, Communication Studies and Psychology and every student on the BTEC Performing Arts course attained a Distinction. This high level of achievement has seen Holmer Green Students accepted on highly competitive courses at UCL, Warwick and York universities.
Headteacher, Michael Jones commented “Our top performers can compete with the highest achievers in any school. With outstanding teachers and the level of support our Sixth Form leadership team provides, our students have raised their expectations and year on year we are seeing a huge increase in the number of A and B grades they achieve.”
“I want to congratulate both my students and staff for this superb achievement.”
This year’s top performer was Eloise Morecroft who achieved 4 A grades in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Geography. Eloise is now set to go to University College London to study Chemistry. Other high achievers include Lucy Figiel A*AB (plus a BTEC Distinction), Cheri Darbon AA (plus a BTEC Distinction), Will Clarke A*AC, Heather Parker A*AC, Chris Harrison ABB, Louise Steel A*BC, Georgina Thomas ABC, Laurence Webster ABC.
